"Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin : The Untold Story"

Finally got a chance to watch this straight to dvd movie this weekend. I have to say that this movie reinforced the notion i was having that the new seasons of Family Guy aren't as good as the old ones. After spending the required 88min to view this film, i realized i hadn't laughed much. Not to say i didn't like it, it just felt like i was laughing at individual gags the were strung together with almost no continuity. This dvd sets out to tell the story of stewie and how he got the way he is, but it fails on that account, which is supposed to be the entire reason for the dvd. Once again emphasizing that story is just as important as the animation, and more importantly that good writers are an absolute nesscity to string together the outlandished acts into some sort of story. After seeing "Whats Opera Doc" in class it was hard to even sit through the whole dvd. It just pailed in comparison. "Whats Opera Doc" with it's simple story line that linked all the wacky ness that unfolded was simply just better. They were able to tell a story without much dialogue, while Family guy was unusally dialog heavy and full offfense, still was unable to tell a proper story. I have to admit that i am a huge family guy plan but i really wonder how long the show can last with the current writing that aims at outrageousness instead of being funny.

I am another family guy fan! the show cracks me up! but i too have to agree that the writing has not been up to par. The first season is definately by far one of the greatest set of shows. I have no seen the new movie on DVD yet but i will definately invest in it to see how it compares to the show. Have you checked to see if maybe they got a different set of writers for the movie separate from the show? or perhaps they added a new one. the story is definately essential to the animation. You could draw an amazing character but if he does nothing, it wont keep the interest of the audience no matter how well drawn he is.

I haven't seen Family Guy on TV, but my brother insisted I watch the movie at work this past weekend. I thought it was hilarious, in a South Park kind of way- more outrageous than anything. I agree the gags seemed strung together, especially with the frame of the movie premiere. It's the kind of thing that's only funny once. I just hope the series was better, or I can't see why everyone loved it so much.
